Vernon
Technology Solutions provides rental and leasing options for
microcomputers, workstations and peripherals to clients across
North America.
Their
aggressive growth is due to their unique and industry leading
products and solutions. Vernon has a complete range of rental
options as well as strategic options for leasing.
They
also go so far as to offer clients complete asset management.
Vernon offers a solution to facilitate the acquisition, deployment,
tracking and disposal of their technology resources.
Vernon
is using OSI's Web Portal to communicate and provide information
to customers. Vernon allows them to login to the corporate
intranet to view real-time information on assets and contracts.
Vernon
also operates On-line Auctions, offering business-to-business,
business-to-person and person-to-person auction models. Vernon
offers private "Re-Marketing" solutions for large
corporations wishing to dispose of their assets through a
public auction or for employee purchase programs.
It's all
automated... It's automated by Open Solutions.
Vernon
was facing a rapidly growing Rental business and needed new
systems to operate and track what was going on in their business.
There were many solutions available on the market, it seemed
it was just a matter of picking one. One caveat was that Vernon
wanted to move into the Leasing business as well.

In July
of 1996 Vernon purchased a name brand solution that was supposed
to meet their needs. After a tumultuous implementation and
functionality that was never delivered Vernon opted to look
for another solution within three years.
In December
of 1999 Vernon Technology entered into an agreement to have
OSI develop a custom application to serve their exact needs.
After several months of extensive business process assessment,
Vernon had their solution eight months later.
The key
to the acceptance of OSI's solution was a rock solid back-end
solution. Vernon had extensive audit requirements dictating
very complex accounting models. OSI delivered a complete solution
covering both front-office and back-office functionality including
a full accounting package.
ResQ Enterprise
tracks over 100,000 assets, depreciating at different rates
and for different periods. These assets move from one pool
to another and can be transferred to many different customers
during their life time. The components of each of these assets
is also tracked as they move between units throughout their
life cycle.
This is
on-top of ResQ's extensive Sales Force Automation functionality
and retail module for the eventual disposal of end of life
assets.

Inc. has built its reputation on providing unique software
solutions that solve customer’s current and future business
problems at an affordable and predictable price.

A concern
that used to come up was Open Solutions’ size. Being a small
company in comparison to some of the competition makes some
prospects question making a purchase. Being in business for
over 15 years helps, but it’s our service performance and
practices that ultimately remove any remaining doubt.
Since
ResQ Enterprise ’s implementation almost three years ago, Vernon
has grown to over 14 locations across North America. These
sites are all connected to a centralized database in their
Toronto head office.
The product
has continued to expand in functionality as Vernon managers
continually find new uses for the software. Their customers
are also driving new development through expanded use of the
eCustomer Portal. Open Solutions developed a secure access
web site where customers can login and view current lease
information, locate asset values, locations, warranty's etc.
Some of
Vernon's biggest customers are using this web application
for a large part of their asset management; leading to more
business for Vernon as customers want to take advantage of
this free service.
All this
makes for excellent communication throughout the company,
its employees and ultimately to the customer, which is the
key to success in bettering customer satisfaction and staff
productivity.
The players
that succeed in these aggressive market conditions are those
that identify the market's needs and deliver what the customer
wants, when they want it. Vernon is finding it's niche by
being creative and nimble on their feet.
